“We met every year
The history of Alessandro Motta Company began in the 90s. In those years, with the family, he went at Castrocaro Terme during a weekend in September to sell in the farm of family friends. I would define it as a vintage featuring genuine goliardic spirit, as it was a way of spending time with about twenty friends of all ages laughing, joking, singing and harvesting, of course.
Coming home from one of those weekends, my father suggested the idea of buying vineyards with a farmhouse. I was not yet an adult, and my brother Francesco was enthusiastic about the idea, not knowing what was behind the vine, both from the point of view of work and knowledge. My mother didn’t agree, as she thought that she was going to manage the entire Company.

Cultivate with wisdom
In November 1996 the farm was bought starting with 2.5 hectares of vineyard in Castel Rocchero, in the province of Asti in the territory of Monferrato Astigiano. Towards the end of the ’90s the property evolved with the acquisition of new vineyards, new plants and the renovation of existing vineyards to reach the current 4.5 hectares and 1.3 hectares of hazelnuts completely in one Amphitheater valley near the village. During the summer months of those years I began, not continuously, to work in the vine and approach me more and more to this world.
So my passion for the vine was began.
I enrolled at the Triennale University of Viticulture and Oenology in Milan, alternating studies with vineyard practice and work experience, during the harvest period, in the cellars where grapes and other work experiences around Italy were conferred. Then I attended the Specialist in Viticulture and Oenology.
Today and tomorrow
In 2014, despite the fact that the vintage was not particularly favorable from the climatic point of view, I began to make wine from some of the grapes (30 quintals per type of grapes), with the production of wines from typical vineyards of the Monferrato territory, in particular Barbera D’Asti, Muscat d’Asti, Brachetto d’Acqui.
The production is currently of about 9,000 bottles, divided equally among the 3 wines produced. The goal over time is to win all the hectares of properties by appropriately increasing the production of bottles while maintaining the quality and typicality of the wines.
